Video
Sep 23, 2020
In 2019, Brookfield acquired a majority interest in Oaktree, a global alternative asset manager with a diversified mix of opportunistic, value-oriented and risk-controlled investments across credit and other investment offerings. Brookfield and Oaktree, which continues to operate as a standalone business, together have over $515 billion of assets under management. The two firms share fundamental values and an approach to investing that is long-term, value-driven and contrarian, with a focus on the downside protection of capital.
“We were attracted to join Brookfield because we feel there’s a congruence of culture,” explains Howard Marks, Oaktree Co-Founder and Co-Chairman, in the video above. Watch the video to learn more about Oaktree’s credit investing approach and how it fits in with Brookfield.
